This work is not intended to be seen as an attempt to set down the core traditional philosophy of the Anishinaabe, nor should it be used as such.  It is simply my attempt to examine and discuss the ideas and teachings I have learned over the years.

Native, Aboriginal, Indigenous, or even more specifically Anishinaabe philosophy are areas of study and work fraught with all kinds of challenges.  On the one hand there is the likelihood that my work may be co-opted and used inappropriately by some people with less than honest intentions, and on the other hand the possibility that it may be regarded as the "bible" of Anishinaabe philosophy and spirituality.  I do not wish for either to happen.

I offer this work not as the final word, but simply as one person's attempt to encourage an ongoing, and in some cases, a new discussion.  I am not a Traditional Teacher.  I am only an apprentice in the early stages of learning the complexity of Anishinaabe thought.  My personal experience (both spiritually and culturally) has been so liberating that I only wish to share what I have learned.  I do not want to be seen as an authority in Anishinaabe philosophy.  The real authorities are the Elders and Traditional Teachers.
